On the occasion of World Environment Day 2022, the final round of `MTB LSS Environment Day Debate Championship 2022’ was arranged by Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) and Lal Sabuj Society (LSS) with the theme “Let the message of climate movement rise in the voices of children” on June 05, 2022. Minister of Planning of Bangladesh, M. A. Mannan, M.P. graced the final round of the debate competition as Chief Guest and Additional Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board, SM Aziar Rahman was present during the event as Special Guest. MTB’s Additional Managing Director & GCRO, Chowdhury Akhtar Asif also attended the event.
This inter-school debate on ‘Environmental Pollution and Climate Change’ was launched on May 16, 2022. The debate was virtually attended by junior debaters from more than 50 schools across the country. The final round of this competition was held at the Samson H. Chowdhury Auditorium, MTB Tower, 111 Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue, Dhaka 1000 in the presence of audience. Motijheel Government Boys’ High School won the championship by defeating Adamjee Cantonment Public School and College in the final round of debate on “Hydropower is the only solution to meet 100% renewable energy demand”.
Sayeda Rubina Akter Mira, MP, as Chief Gueat, formally inaugurated the event through a virtual opening ceremony on May 18, 2022 while renowned author, writer and editor of Kishore Alo, Anisul Haque was also present on the occasion as Special Guest.
