Mutual Trust Bank PLC. (MTB) launched its first standalone IFRS S1 & S2 Disclosure, “Climate Catalyst for Resilience 2025,” on July 13, 2026, at the Samson H. Chowdhury Auditorium, MTB Tower. The launch was followed by a day-long training on Sustainable Finance and Bangladesh Bank’s Refinance Schemes, conducted by specialists from Bangladesh Bank’s Sustainable Finance Department.
The event was attended by Syed Mahbubur Rahman, MD & CEO; Md. Shamsul Islam, DMD & Head of Treasury; Usman Rashed Muyeen, DMD & GCRO; Md. Shafquat Hossain, DMD & Head of Retail Banking Division; and A.K.M. Tareq, DMD & Head of Branch Banking Division, Tahmina Z. Khan, Head of Sustainability, along with senior Bangladesh Bank officials as guests of honor.
Opening the event, Usman Rashed Muyeen said, “The publication of MTB’s first standalone IFRS S1 & S2 Disclosure marks an important milestone in our sustainability journey. Transparent climate-related disclosures and Bangladesh Bank’s sustainable finance and refinance schemes will play a vital role in strengthening resilience and supporting sustainable economic development.”
Syed Mahbubur Rahman added, “Climate risk management has become a strategic priority for the banking industry. Through the launch of our first standalone IFRS S1 & S2 Disclosure and our continued focus on sustainable finance, MTB remains committed to promoting responsible banking and supporting Bangladesh’s transition to a greener and more resilient economy.” He then, joined by the DMDs and the Bangladesh Bank officials, formally launched “Climate Catalyst for Resilience 2025.” The day-long training that followed covered sustainable finance, climate risk management, regulatory expectations, and refinance schemes, building participants’ capacity to implement them across the Bank.
Through this dual initiative, MTB reaffirmed its commitment to climate resilience, transparent reporting, and responsible banking in support of Bangladesh’s transition to a greener economy.
