Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) is pleased to announce the promotion of four of its Senior Executive Vice Presidents (SEVPs) to the posts of Deputy Managing Directors. The promoted persons are Md. Bakhteyer Hossain, Md. Shamsul Islam, Usman Rashed Muyeen, and Md. Shafquat Hossain.
Md. Bakhteyer Hossain
Md. Bakhteyer Hossain has recently been promoted to the rank of Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) with effect from September 01, 2023. Hossain is a seasoned banker with over twenty-eight years of banking experience with a specialization in International Trade. He is currently the Chief Operating Officer of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB). Prior to this elevation, he was heading MTB Transaction Banking, MTB International Trade Services (MITS) and Offshore Banking Division of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB). He also looked after the centralized Trade Services Operations of the Bank for the last 11 (eleven) years. He was the project lead of the centralization project of the Trade Operations of MTB, implemented in the year 2011.
Being an MBA from Australia, with 3 (three) specializations in International Business, Finance & Banking, and Strategic Human Resources Management (SHRM)], Hossain has also done his Masters of Sciences (MSc) from The University of Dhaka in Geography & Environmental Science.
Md. Shamsul Islam
Md. Shamsul Islam has recently been promoted to the rank of Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) with effect from September 01, 2023. He has also been serving the Bank as Head of Treasury. He joined MTB in 2013
and since then he has made significant contributions to the bank specially in concentration to Treasury activities and balance sheet management.
He is also serving as the President of Bangladesh Money Market Dealers’ Association (BAMDA). As a member of Technical Committee of Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (BAFEDA) and Primary Dealers Bangladesh Limited (PDBL), Islam is playing a key role in the development of effective interbank money market.
He started his career with IFIC Bank Limited as a Probationary Officer in 1996. With over 26 years of experience in banking, he has also played different vital roles in Southeast Bank Ltd. and National Bank Limited in several key areas like Special Projects Division, International Division, Credit Division, Treasury Division etc. Islam has completed his M.Com from University of Dhaka and subsequently completed MBA from “National Louis University”, UK. He has also attended different professional training and development programs both at home and abroad.
Usman Rashed Muyeen
Usman Rashed Muyeen has recently been promoted to the rank of Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) with effect from September 01, 2023. He has also been serving the Bank as the Head of Credit Risk Management. Usman Rashed Muyeen was appointed as the Head of Credit Risk Management & Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB). Prior to joining MTB, he was the Head of Credit Risk Management at Eastern Bank Limited (EBL). Muyeen is an Omega (UK) Certified Credit professional who brings with him more than 26 years in banking in different capacities.
Muyeen completed his Honours and Master in Finance from the University of Dhaka. He started his career with Southeast Bank Limited as a Probationary Officer in 1996 and served the bank till 2003. He joined Dhaka Bank Limited in 2003. He served Eastern Bank Limited (EBL) from 2007 to 2020 and, there, he played a vital role as the Head of Credit Risk Management from 2015 to 2020. He also completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from North South University.
Md. Shafquat Hossain
Md. Shafquat Hossain has recently been promoted to the rank of Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) with effect from September 01, 2023. He has also been serving the Bank as Head of Retail Banking. He joined the Bank as the Head of SME & Retail Banking Division and Senior Executive Vice President of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB).
He started his career as a Management Trainee at the erstwhile ANZ Grindlays Bank in February of 1997. He has done his International Baccalaureate from Kungsholmens Gymnasium in Stockhom, Sweden, and thereafter completed his Bachelor in Business Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, USA in the year 1995.
Shafquat has 26 years of extensive experience in Retail, Cards, and Branch Banking, holding various positions in Retail and Branch Banking which included the Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management at HSBC in Bangladesh, Head of Products and Segments at Standard Chartered Bank in Bangladesh and more recently Head of Retail Banking and Card Division at Dhaka Bank Limited. He has attended different professional training and development programs at home and abroad.
