MTB holds daylong workshop on AML and CFT in Chittagong

Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB) recently organized a daylong workshop on Anti Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML & CFT) at a local hotel in Chittagong. MTB Additional Managing Director, Md. Hashem Chowdhury inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest. Swapan Kumar Biswas, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer (CAMLCO), Md. Baker Hossain, Senior Assistant Vice President & AMLCO and Israt Jahan, Assistant Vice President, Anti Money Laundering Department (AMLD) conducted sessions as the resource persons. MTB Deputy Managing Director and Group Chief Risk Officer, Md. Zakir Hussain, Head of MTB Chittagong Division Branches, Md. Khurshed Ul Alam and MTB Training Institute Principal, Abul Ali Ahad were also present in the workshop. A total of 75 participants from Chittagong district & adjacent area branches attended the workshop. The objective of the workshop was to refresh the knowledge of participants, make them aware of new guidelines, circulars of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) and MTB’s strategy to face the challenges ahead in terms of AML & CFT.

MTB AMD Md. Hashem Chowdhury in his speech thanked all for spirited and sincere participation in the workshop. “It is the high time that every financial institution and its officials involved with submitting reports on money laundering, frequently and closely monitor transactions for proper identification of the sources of funds and unusual cases to Prevent Money Laundering, and ensure Combating the Financing of Terrorism.” he added.
