MTB Inaugurates Month-Long “Entrepreneurship Development” Program in Madaripur

Mutual Trust Bank PLC inaugurated a month-long “Entrepreneurship Development” Program on August 24, 2026 in Madaripur, in collaboration with the SME & Special Programmes Department (SMESPD) of Bangladesh Bank. A total of 26 entrepreneurs have registered for the program, which is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and implemented by the Ministry of Finance under the Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP).

The intensive program is designed to enhance the competencies, skills, and business capabilities of participating entrepreneurs and prepare them to meet the eligibility requirements for accessing formal finance and financial services. Through this initiative, entrepreneurs will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to strengthen their businesses, improve competitiveness, and pursue sustainable growth.

Md. Masum Billah, Program Director (PD) and Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank, graced the inauguration ceremony as the Chief Guest and highlighted the importance of the program in developing capable and competitive entrepreneurs and facilitating their access to formal financial services.

A.K.M. Tareq, DMD & Head of Branch Banking Division of MTB, and Mohammad Wasim, Deputy Program Director (DPD) of SICIP and Joint Director of Bangladesh Bank, attended the event as Special Guests. They emphasized the scope, benefits, and potential impact of the program on the participating entrepreneurs and the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Sanjib Kumar Dey, Head of SME & Agri Banking Division of MTB, presided over the inauguration ceremony. In his remarks, he thanked Bangladesh Bank, the Ministry of Finance, SICIP, ADB, and all other relevant stakeholders for their valuable support and guidance in organizing this timely and impactful initiative.

The month-long program aims to create a stronger bridge between entrepreneurship development and formal financial inclusion. By enhancing the skills and business capabilities of the participating entrepreneurs, the initiative is expected to help them become more finance-ready, access formal financial services, expand their businesses, improve competitiveness, and contribute to sustainable employment and economic growth. Through this collaborative effort, Mutual Trust Bank PLC and Bangladesh Bank reaffirm their commitment to supporting emerging entrepreneurs and promoting inclusive and sustainable private-sector development.
