As part of MTB Foundation’s project titled ‘Climbing for Climate, Building for Communities – A Climate Resilience Initiative of MTB Foundation’. MTB Foundation recently commemorated World Environment Day 2026 by inaugurating project ‘Nobo Neer’, a Climate Resilient Housing (CRH) initiative in Guthia, Ujirpur, Barishal.
The coastal communities of Barishal, especially Ujirpur, remain most vulnerable to climate related impacts such as waterlogging, salinity intrusion, and extreme weather conditions. These challenges repeatedly damage weak housing structures, disrupt livelihoods, and increase financial and safety risks for marginalized families. By constructing climate resilient houses under project ‘Nobo Neer’, MTB Foundation aims to enhance the adaptive capacity of vulnerable households by promoting sustainable and resilient housing solutions designed to withstand local environmental challenges and provide safer, more durable shelters for families regularly exposed to climate-induced risks. The initiative exemplifies MTB Foundation’s objective to support the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 13 (Climate Action).
The inauguration program was attended by Samia Chowdhury, Chief Executive Officer and Golam Rabbani & Nazmus Sakib, Associates of MTB Foundation.
