As part of its weeklong World Environment Day 2025 celebration, Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB), in collaboration with Footsteps Bangladesh, launched a heartwarming initiative titled “Adopt a Plant” to foster environmental awareness among young children.
Held on June 2, 2025, at Kazifori Government Primary School and 21 No. Pallabi Government Primary School in Dhaka, the program engaged over 1,000 students who each received an indoor plant to take home and care for. With guidance on plant care and a simple pledge to protect the environment, the event turned into a joyful, hands-on learning experience.
Larger plants were also planted on both campuses to create lasting green memories. By encouraging students to become caretakers of nature, the initiative aimed to nurture empathy, mindfulness, and a lifelong connection to the environment.
Through this initiative, MTB and Footsteps emphasized that meaningful environmental action can begin with something as small as a plant — and a young child’s promise to help it grow.
