Mufti Dr. H.M. Shahidul Islam Barakati is a distinguished Bangladeshi Islamic scholar, academician, and prominent media personality. He holds several prestigious roles across educational, research, and media sectors, including serving as the Director General of International Islamic Research Center (IRDC) and Director at South-East University. Furthermore, he serves as the Vice President of ATN Bangla (I.D) International TV Channel and is a recognized international guest speaker who has traveled to the UK, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Malaysia, and India.

Mufti Dr. Barakati has built a distinguished career providing expert Shariah oversight across the corporate and financial sectors. His academic background includes the completion of Hifz-al-Quran and Dura-E-Hadith, followed by a B.A. (Hons.), M.A., M.Phil., and a Ph.D. from University of Dhaka. This rigorous training supports his extensive professional experience, having served as a Head Muhaddis in various madrasas and as a Shariah advisor for multiple financial institutions. He has also guided scholarly initiatives as the Director of the Al Quran Research Centre since 1998 and the International Islamic Research Center.

Deeply involved in community and social welfare, Mufti Dr. Barakati has served as the Secretary General of Bangladesh Human Rights Council and the Khatib for several mosques.
