It is a savings account that Bangladeshi residents can open and maintain with foreign exchange brought in upon their return from travel abroad.

  • Freely cashable/transferable in BDT
  • Deposit up to USD 10,000 or its equivalent without declaration
  • Deposit above USD 10,000 or its equivalent upon declaration on FMJ Form
  • Outward remittance is allowed for bona fide purposes for dependents of the account-holder including but not limited to cost of travel, education for children, treatment, etc.
  • Free air lounge access for RFCD account holders subject to maintaining a certain available balance.
  • Online payment against purchase of goods and services from reputed and reliable sources abroad using International card against RFCD.

Restrictions:

  • Joint applicant not allowed
  • Proceeds of export of goods or services from Bangladesh or commission arising against business deals in Bangladesh are not allowed into this account
  • Inward remittance not allowed

International Card

  • International Prepaid card will be issued against the account

Eligibility:

  • Nationality: Resident Bangladeshi with Valid National Identity Card (NID)/ Smart National Identity Card/Valid Passport
  • Age: 18 Years and above
  • Valid proof of travelling abroad (e.g. VISA/E-VISA along with Departure and Arrival stamp given by Immigration Authority in Passport).

Documents required for Opening Account:

  • Duly filled and signed AOF (Account Opening Form)
  • Recent Passport Size photo of the applicant
  • NID – National Identity Card/ Smart National Identity Card/Valid Passport
  • Supporting Documents for confirming Address
  • Nominee related documents
  • Copy of relevant pages of Passport and Visa
  • Relevant page of Departure and Arrival Seal given from the Immigration authority of the related port.
  • Source of Fund/Income Related document.
  • Documents regarding declaration to Customs Authorities in form FMJ (For applicable cases).
  • E-TIN Certificate (Optional).

Latest Acknowledgement Receipt of Income Tax Return/Income Tax Certificate in case foreign currency amount is equivalent to BDT 1 million or above.

Documents required for Opening Account:

While depositing foreign exchange to such account the depositor shall furnish written declaration, mentioning;

  • The date of return from abroad and
  • The amount of foreign exchange brought in. The declaration must confirm that the foreign exchange:
    (i) Is not a receipt against export of goods or services from Bangladesh.
    (ii) Is not a commission due from abroad arising from
    business deal in Bangladesh.
