Malik Muntasir Reza

Group Company Secretary

Mr. Malik Muntasir Reza is the Group Company Secretary of Mutual Trust Bank Limited (MTB) since July 1, 2015. Mr. Muntasir joined MTB as Executive Vice President on March 24, 2015.

Muntasir brings in over 19 years of banking experience with him, having commenced his banking career with Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) back in 2001. This was followed by stints at Shahjalal Islami Bank (SJIBL) and Jamuna Bank Limited (JBL) in various roles. At JBL, he was the Company Secretary for five and a half years until his joining MTB. He also has diversified experience in branch banking and Internal Control & Compliance at IBBL and SJIBL, where he educated himself in different areas of banking operations.

Mr. Muntasir has completed his M. Com. in Accounting under National University. He is a Fellow Member of The Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB). He has also completed major part of Professional Examination, Final Level (PE III) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB). He did his 3 and half years of article-ship from Howladar Yunus & Company, Chartered Accountants, a leading accounting firm of the country and a Correspondent Firm of Grant Thornton International, one of the world’s leading organizations of independent assurance, tax and advisory firms.

He received the MTB Board of Directors` appreciation for working as a member of the Deal Team and accomplishing the Norfund`s equity investment, successfully. The highest ever equity FDI by an International Organization (9.53% shares held in MTB) in a Bangladeshi Bank. He also received appreciation for amending and updating the Articles of Association of bank.

During his services in JBL, he also received Board of Directors’ appreciation for serving/performing efficiently, honestly, sincerely with utmost devotion, dedication as the Company Secretary of the bank.

Mr. Muntasir was one of the members of the Sub Committee formed by the Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC), which was formed for the preparation of recommendations on the draft Corporate Governance Code (CGC) of the BSEC. It may be mentionable that most of the recommendations of the Committee were accepted by the BSEC, which were led and guided by the President, Mr. Azam J. Chowdhury, one of the leading and pioneer business leaders of the country, and Vice President, Mr. Anis A. Khan, former Managing Director & CEO of MTB.

Mr. Muntasir is a member and focal point of Corporate Governance & CSR Sub Committee of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), the oldest and the pre-eminent trade organization of Bangladesh.

He has participated in a number of training courses, which include International Trade Payment & Foreign Exchange, IT Auditing, Asset Liability Management, IT Security and information system in Banks, AML, etc. He has received overseas training in Malaysia. He visited Afghanistan United Bank in 2009 on their invitation.
